BOOKS

The List of Publications by ANIDO

This is a chronological list of books and video tapes came out from ANIDO. We also put some which were brought out by other company but ANIDO participated in their production. Unfortunately most in the list have been already sold out. In the future, we will place important articles in FILM 1/24 here, too. So please check it out. If you want to know about a book or a video tape in stock, please go to "Goods and Books" page. Most of them are written in Japanese. Only the books with the notion are written in English.

History of ANIDO's Publication

At the beginning we were irregularly publishing"Anime Dayori (Animation Letter)", which were briefly mimeographed matters. As we became more active, we started to issue a longer booklet and change its name to "FILM 1/24". It was at first mimeographed and later simply offset-printed. But all manuscripts were written by hand and pictures were not very clear. We suspended its publication after Vol.12 was appeared in 1974.
In 1975, one of our members, Yoko Tomizawa, began to bring out "FILM 1.24"again as a chief editor. From Vol. 8 it became the magazine with printing type and clear pictures. Unfortunately Vol. 32 in 1984 became the last one to be appeared.
As well as "FILM 1/24", we started editing "FILM 1/18" which carried the news for ANIDO members. Now it is called "FILM 1/30". We, as gaining the experience of publication, also started publishing animation books, such as "Conan, the Boy in Future", "The Animation Films of the world" planned and edited by Takashi Namiki. We contributed to popularization of animated cartoons by cooperating to publish Laser Discs and books came out from other companied, too.
The latest book we have brought out is "Yasugi Mori, Master Animator-His Animated Drawings". We are planning to publish a book every year. Now we are editing "Chuck Amuck", "The animation Films of the World (new edition)" and "Animated People".

Fantoche

Oct. 31, 1975 (Sold out)

The First Printing Typed Animation Journal in Japan (Sold out) We happened to see the French animation magazine "Fantasmagorie" at Annecy Festival, which we joined with Kihachiro Kawamoto, and were inspired to publish "Fantoche". It was introduced as the first animation journal in Japan by media such as Mainichi Newspaper. We sent a manuscript to the press in Nakano at the cost of 720,000 yen. But the experts for printing left the company I think because their business was not going so well.So the manager had to print our manuscript by himself and it turned out to be illegible. Because the stuff could not get along well anymore, Namiki left them after publishing Vol. 1. He then FILM 1/24 into print.
